Absolutely delicious and a total joy!We walk past Fankery every day on our way to work, and it honestly sparks joy every time. Cathy and her team are so friendly, warm, and welcoming. It’s one of those places that instantly lifts your mood. The treats are next-level! Not overly sweet, just perfectly balanced and made with care. My absolute favourite is the limited edition watermelon cake, so fresh and unique! We’ve also gifted friends some of their cookies, and they’ve been a hit with everyone. It’s been disheartening to see the negativity online, especially when this is clearly a business built with love, passion, and heart. We’re here to support local and spread kindness. Fankery, you’ve got something really special here. Keep going!

After all of the controversy, I thought I would finally eat my words and make up my own opinion on this. 10 minutes after eating this, we all feel a bit sick.Ordering experience was okay - when the owner was hyping up her new seating, I was not expecting to sit right next to a car park. It is a VERY small storefront and the light inside was quite poor, I don’t think it made any of the desserts look very nice, but hey you gotta work with the space that you have. There were two workers but it still felt a bit slow on the packing side. Could just be growing pains.I ordered the Fankery Signature (ube + matcha) with coconut milk, and the Watermelon/Strawberry Dacquoise. My friend ordered the Matcha Basque Cheesecake, and the Mango + Matcha Crepe cake.Fankery Signature - $8? maybe it was $10As a Filipino, happy to report that it tastes like they use real halayang ube - usually people just use taro and call it ube because it’s purple but hey it tasted legit! Matcha was great quality too. It looks great presented, not so great when it’s mixed but that’s colour theory for you. I took about 3 sips before I concluded that it was too sweet and now it sits next to me, grey and half-full.Watermelon / Strawberry Dacquoise - $20I can understand WHY this would be priced the way it is. They sourced fresh fruit in the middle of winter, internationally (from what was said on their instagram), and it is a genuinely good dessert. If I wasn’t planning on doing a review, I wouldn’t pay $20 for a cake this size (see attached images, Yeti Rambler for scale, ignore the red), but again I understand the effort it takes to get fruit in this season. Aside from the price, overall a great dessert - I would take out the mochi (and we did end up taking out the mochi) because it really didn’t add anything to it. It just made it a bit more of a hassle getting a forkful, especially when there’s already a slab of watermelon in there to get through. I think even if you’re going to hate-eat at Fankery, I would get this dish - there’s nothing else like it around! Very unique and refreshing. At this point in writing the review, I have thrown away my half-full grey Fankery Signature.Matcha Basque Cheesecake - $22.50 (bought by friend)The worst of the items. Basque cheesecake should be softer, NOT dense. Putting my fork through it was not satisfying. The moment I put it in mouth - yuck. Look, I love matcha, loved it before it was a trending drink, and I love that I can taste the matcha in this slice but, Christ, there is such a thing as too much matcha. Again, mochi added nothing. I think nailing the basque cheesecake should be priority before adding anything to it. I understand that it is one of the more difficult cheesecakes to make, but if this is going to be your base slice in the selection, I wouldn’t pay more than $15 for it. I can empathise with the fact that there is a matcha shortage so sure I guess $22.50, but the fact that the dacquoise was $20 AND it had fresh fruit in the middle of winter - the math isn’t mathing for me. But hey, maybe that’s just me.Matcha + Mango Crepe cake - $22.50On par with the dacquoise - everyone enjoyed this one. Texture for the most part was great, balance of sweet and tart was great. Confused as to how mochi would be the star of this slice when really it should be the mango, because, once again, the mochi added nothing. Other than that, tasted real good! Price? Again, I can understand the amount of work that goes into a mille crepes, and also the fresh mango, and also the matcha, and the mochi I guess but it makes it more confusing that it would be priced the same as the matcha basque cheesecake - a single flavoured dessert.Overall, this haul cost ≈$75, and I personally paid $30. Do I think my experience was worth the price? No, but my paycheque comes in tomorrow so why not. Don’t get me wrong, the slices that I enjoyed, I REALLY did enjoy. The fruit was refreshing but overall too sweet. My friend did end up throwing up after this, but at least it was pastel coloured?

Have been ordering from Fankery since they first started, absolutely love their cheesecakes and other desserts that they offer. So happy they now have a store as they’re usually sold out at pop ups by the time I get there. Tried some of their new limited edition items, the ube pandan coconut pudding crepe cake and the salted caramel pudding tart. Loved the combination of flavours and textures of these desserts, really hoping that it stays on the menu for a bit longer as I would definitely get these again and again!

So happy there's now a store! The store is quite small so it's suits takeaways only. Service was on the slower end so there's room for growth. I love trying new things from Fankery. The crepe chiffon cake was delicious and not too sweet, the different layers all worked well together. The baklava cheesecake was interesting, loved the pistachio base but it was quite expensive. Salted caramel tart was amazing! Wish I got more so I didn't have to share 1 tart with my whole family. Looking forward to try other things and the drinks next time.
