Terra Sancta Winery Bannockburn

Terra Sancta is a distinguished winery located in Bannockburn, Central Otago, New Zealand. The estate comprises four vineyards and a winery, all situated in this premium subregion. The Terra Sancta Estate on Felton Road, established in 1991, is the oldest vineyard in Bannockburn.

The winery specializes in Pinot Noir, which accounts for approximately 80% of its vineyard area. Notable Pinot Noir offerings include the Slapjack Block, Jackson’s Block, Shingle Beach, and Mysterious Diggings. Terra Sancta also produces acclaimed rosés, with the Estate Rosé being the only wine of its color to receive the top “Classic” designation in Michael Cooper’s Wine Guide to New Zealand Wines over 27 years.

Beyond Pinot Noir, Terra Sancta crafts white wines such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer. The winery also offers unique products like the Aperitivo Botanical, made from 16 botanicals foraged around their vineyards, and a luxurious Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Visitors can experience Terra Sancta’s offerings at their cellar door located at 306 Felton Road, Bannockburn. The cellar door operates from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Tastings are priced at $15, with one tasting fee redeemable per bottle purchased. The best winery we visited in Otago. Thank you Sara for a wonderful tasting and for sharing your story with us. It was the highlight of our full day tour in the region. We only wish we could have bought more wine to bring home with us!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐An unforgettable experience at Terra Sancta! As a Director of Food & Beverage for many years and someone who has opened numerous restaurants for Jamie Oliver, I’ve seen a lot—but Terra Sancta truly impressed me.The tasting was more than wine; it was an education in both exceptional wine and genuine hospitality. The team’s passion for their product is infectious—they absolutely believe in what they do, and it shows.I love that Terra Sancta grows and makes its wines right in Bannockburn, steeped in history and authenticity. This experience made me believe in the brand so much that I joined both wine clubs on the spot!If you value premium boutique wines and outstanding service, Terra Sancta is a must-visit. A memorable occasion for me and my family—highly recommended!

👍 Like my review! If you genuinely enjoy and understand wines, this is not the place to go. Of course, if you don't really care about wines and you enjoy the gorgeous views, this would be a nice place to visit. As a person who owns over 300 wine bottles from around the world, starting a tasting with Aperitivo Botanical that destroys your palette for the other wines they were offering. This place has a lot of fans for their wines thanks to their grounds, beautiful labels, and rich history. I was sorely turned off by how their wines are "stellar" instead of letting the people taste it and judge it for themselves. This was the only winery of the entire New Zealand visit which we did NOT buy a single bottle. We would not recommend our friends or families to have a tasting at Terra Sancta.
