We absolutely think these thermal hot pools are the best in the country. Located at Wairakei on the Thermal Explorer Highway, just 5 minutes north of Lake Taupo town centre. Visitors can bathe in a series of hot thermal pools rich in minerals, uniquely situated below magnificent silica terraces that provide a ‘feel back in time’ sensation, leaving you warm long after you have left the water.
Known for enhancing circulation and easing muscle tension, these mineral-rich waters, rich in silica and sulphur, provide rejuvenation, promoting a soothing and therapeutic escape.
At Wairakei Terraces, pools of varying temperatures between have been strategically positioned below the silica terraces and waterfall, taking full advantage of the geothermal water flow that is drawn to the earth’s surface from 1.5 kilometres underground.
